James Deller, who lives near Epsom, became a special constable in 1993, and has also worked with Dyfed-Powys and Humberside police.
Special constables are volunteers who donate 16 hours of their time each month and hold the same powers as regular police officers.
James, who works at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for his “day job”, says he is looking forward to his new role:
