Kingston’s Ancient Market Place will remain closed until Sunday following last week’s major fire.

Safety work is underway, with preparations being made to remove the damaged stalls.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty fridge and is not being treated as suspicious.

Traders won’t have to pay pitch fees during the closure, and the council is looking for temporary sites for those who lost their stalls.
