It’s home to the likes of Ted Lasso but it seems Richmond is not going to be the setting for a new Thames Water TV advert.

The council’s leader Gareth Roberts has revealed producers contacted the authority recently asking for permission to film.

But he says the request was turned down because of the company’s plans to build a Direct River Abstraction plant at Teddington Lock.

Mr Roberts has thrown down the gauntlet.
