Conservative Cllr Robert Morritt (pictured) takes over from Cllr Aled Richards-Jones.
Mr Jones described the decision ro stand down as “very difficult”, blaming increasing professional responsibilities as a law firm partner for the decision.
Mr Morritt says his immediate focus will be on providing clear leadership for the council and responding to the financial challenges.
