Households can request one collection a year from the council for up to five items like sofas and mattresses.

The new service is designed for household items that cannot be donated, reused, or taken to a Pop Up Tip.

The council says it’s part if its efforts to crackdown on fly tipping.

To ensure a smooth pickup, residents are being told to place their listed items as close to the edge of their property as possible.

Items must be no wider than 180cm (6ft) and weigh a maximum of 45kg.

Mattresses larger than a double should be folded and tied securely, or cut in half if possible and covered and wrapped if stained. If items cannot be moved safely or do not meet these requirements, they may be left behind.
