A goose who recently hatched goslings, has been killed in a catapult attack at Hogsmill Nature Reserve in Ewell.

The bird, which was the subject of regular updates on the area’s Facebook group, was found dead over the weekend in Old Mill Pond.

The incident has been reported to police.

There has been a continued surge in catapult attacks, especially in the South East, since early last year.

Despite this, the government has rejected calls for a blanket ban on the sale and possession of the weapons.
