The 153-year-old Grade II-listed bridge has been closed after inspectors detected “slight movement.”
Motor traffic has been blocked since February when a cast-iron component cracked, and sensors are now monitoring the structure.
Repairs are expected to cost around £8.5m and take about a year, with closures remaining while the bridge’s movement is checked.
