Ashford and St Peter’s hospitals say a new pilot project has managed to keep some people out of A&E.

It saw a consultant radiographer paired with paramedics going out on 999 calls to people who had fallen at home.

Rapid X ray imaging was carried out at the scene using a mobile machine and the images were transmitted instantly to the hospitals.

The project, which ran between July and October last year, meant many patients could be diagnosed and treated in their own home.
