There was a 26% increase in such offences across Surrey last year.
Police say it has a great impact which includes price rises, anti-social behaviour and staff feeling of fear and intimidation.
Officers say they are carrying out uniformed patrols and deploying plain clothes officers to known crime hotspots.
They say they are also working with previous offenders to support them to stay off the path of criminality.
