The move follows a spike in reported thefts, and alerts from whistleblowers.
If the badge is used by anyone who is not the registered holder, other than to pick up or drop off the badge holder, it is fraudulent.
There are over 2,000 badges in circulation in the borough and the penalty for misuse upon conviction is a fine of up to £1,000.
