Women engineers have gathered on Hammersmith Bridge to discuss the challenges of the project and the engineering industry.

The group, which included members from Transport for London, took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Grade II listed structure.

The visit was part of Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s efforts to encourage girls into careers involving science, maths and technology.

The Women’s Engineering Society research shows only 16.5% of all engineers in the UK are women.
