These annual awards recognise and celebrate those who selflessly volunteer their time and efforts to improve their communities and people’s lives, often under the radar and without expecting anything in return.
Cllr Nancy Baldwin, Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities and the Voluntary Sector, said:
“Richmond upon Thames is defined by its remarkable people. Every day, we see acts of kindness, creativity and dedication that transform lives. The Community Heroes Awards are our way of saying thank you to the local movers and shakers who step up in a big way to give back to their local area.
“Most of us will know such unsung heroes—those local businesses, groups and clubs, good neighbours and inspiring individuals who go above and beyond to look after our most vulnerable. Their efforts help create stronger, more welcoming communities for their neighbours or champion initiatives that help our local areas and residents thrive. I encourage you to nominate them and help us show them just how much their hard work means to our borough.”
Nominations should be for work in a voluntary capacity only. For further information about the Community Heroes Awards or to find out about nominating over the phone or by paper form, please email events@richmond.gov.uk or call 020 8891 7955.
