Band D properties will see their bills increase by £958 in response to what the Conservative-run local authority call “savage central government cuts”.

Councillors say they identified a shortfall of £84million pounds after a spending review.

The MP for Putney, Fleur Anderson, says:

“This huge Council Tax increase threat will be hard to afford and very worrying for families across Wandsworth.

For households already struggling with the cost of essentials, finding an extra £958 a year will be extremely difficult. Pensioners, families on low incomes, and people facing financial hardship should not be left wondering how they will pay their bills.

The Conservatives only very narrowly won the election against a Labour Council who would not have brought in this shocking increase.

The Conservative-run council should listen to residents and reverse this cruel Council Tax increase. Wandsworth families should not be forced to pay the price for the choices this Conservative administration has made.”
