UK Power Networks has been fined £40,000 for carrying out unsafe works in two roads near Kensington High Street.

The company was taken to court following an investigation by Kensington and Chelsea Council.

In one case, authority officers discovered an open excavation site and a mini digger when they inspected Queen’s Gate Mews last year.

UK Power Networks was also ordered to pay the council’s legal costs of £4,600 and a victim surcharge of £2,000 by Westminster Magistrates.
