Police on night patrol spotted the vehicle speed past them; it had no lights on, and the driver was wearing a balaclava.
They failed to stop when signalled to do so and a pursuit began, but officers lost them.
After a search of the area, another abandoned moped was found which has been linked to the original bike.
They were both eventually arrested, and the bike’s been recovered.
