Twickenham based Rugby Union side Harlequins says it is “appalled by the racist abuse suffered by former player Ugo Monye.”

Police are investigating after the former England international accused a supporter of racist abuse at Exeter Chiefs on Sunday.

40 year old Monye, who was working as a pundit, says he was targeted after Exeter’s victory against Gloucester.

The Harlequins statement reads;

There is absolutely no place for racism in our sport. Rugby is a sport for all. 

Our support is with Ugo and we urge anyone with information to assist Exeter Chiefs with their investigation.
