It’s a time when the spotlight falls on the importance of learning CPR and knowing the risks and signs of a heart attack or cardiac arrest.

South East Coast Ambulance Service says it’s leading the way in achieving a 30-day cardiac arrest survival rate of 17.2%

The Trust, which covers Surrey, tops the NHS rankings putting it significantly above the national average of 10.2% for May.

SECAmb’s Chief Paramedic Officer, Dr Jaqui Lindridge said: “These latest figures reflect the dedication and expertise of our teams, volunteers and local communities.

“From the first person to witness and take action following a cardiac arrest, to the work of our call handlers, dispatchers, ambulance clinicians, volunteers and hospital teams – they demonstrate the difference early action can make.

“By continuing to strengthen every link in the Chain of Survival and encouraging more people to learn CPR, we can help even more patients survive cardiac arrest and return home to their families.”
