Thornton Heath’s historical clocktower has been restored after an arson attack last September left it severely damaged.

The historic structure near the High Street was built to commemorate the turn of the century in 1900 and cost £300 at the time.

The restoration of the landmark has been funded by the council’s own insurance and risk financing arrangements.

Gillett and Johnston, the original makers of the clock, were responsible for fixing and replacing its dial and hands.
