The policing part of council tax is increasing for Surrey’s residents by 4.2%

Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend says the money will be spent on giving officers the tools they need to tackle crime.

14 Police and Crime Panel members present at the meeting voted on the proposal with seven for and seven against.

Despite the Chair casting a deciding vote against, there were insufficient votes to veto the proposal, so it has gone ahead.
