The Metropolitan Police has referred itself to the watchdog over officers’ contact with the so-called ‘Putney Pusher’ suspect who died this week.

Nicholas Brandram was arrested in June over the pushing of a woman in front of a London bus in 2017 but his family insist he didn’t do it.

They say he took his own life.
