The London Fire Brigade has revealed that they dealt with nearly 400 calls in the first two hours of 2025 alone.

Firefighters attended several fires across the capital overnight, including at a flat in Notting Hill and a house in Forest Gate.

They also dispatched a fire boat from Lambeth River Fire Station to the River Thames near Millbank where around 20 people were trapped by the tide at around midnight.

Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne, who led the Brigade’s New Year operational response, has thanked all the staff on shift.
