Nigel Farage says his party is now the government’s official opposition after a slew of major gains across England.

The party won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election – taking the seat from Labour with a majority of just six votes.

They’ve also taken control of Lincolnshire, Durham and Staffordshire councils.

The Prime Minister says despite setbacks – he’s not going to change the government’s agenda.

Meanwhile, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch says she’s determined to win back the trust of voters.

Ballots are still being counted across England.

Liberal Democrat leader and Kingston and Surbiton MP, Sir Ed Davey, says it’s been a fantastic night for his party despite losses.
