Garden Lodge is set in a quiet enclave in the borough, of Kensington and Chelsea.

It used to be described by Mercury as “his country house in central London”.

Freddie bought the property in 1980 and left it to his friend Mary Austin following his death eleven years later.

She recently sold 15 hundred items from his home during a six-day auction, with part of the money raised going to the Mercury Phoenix Trust and the Elton John Aids Foundation.
