They claim 19-year-old Reuben Abakah was visible to the driver “well before” he crossed the tracks at Waddon Marsh West.
He died in hospital from his injuries three days later in August 2022.
The defendant, Tram Operations Limited, has declined to comment while legal proceedings are ongoing.
No legal action is being brought against the tram driver.
