It’s after a diesel spill on Tuesday afternoon leaked around 4,000 litres of the fluid into the “at risk” chalk stream.
The Environment Agency says there is no new diesel entering the site and the rain will help dilute what’s already in there.
The public is being advised that the odour will remain noticeable and not to touch the water or let their dogs in the water.
