The AA says potholes should be a national priority, warning drivers pay billions in taxes while roads keep getting worse.

The motoring organisation says it attended more than 600,000 pothole related breakdowns last year.

Meanwhile, new rules will require councils in England to show how they plan to maintain roads long-term.

In Sutton, £850,000 is being spent on pothole repairs, with over 500 fixed this year including 77 critical ones caused by severe weather.
