Surrey Police are reminding drivers to take simple steps to protect their vehicles from theft and break-ins.

They say cars should always be locked, with windows and sunroofs fully closed, even when left unattended briefly.

Motorists are also urged to secure number plates and wheels with anti-tamper and locking fittings, and to remove or hide valuables.

The force says opportunist thieves often target easily accessible items and unattended vehicles.
