Police chiefs say the threat of ‘extreme-right disorder’ abated last night because of a show of force and a show of unity.

Anti-racism counter protesters crowded streets in many placed where anti-immigration rallies had been expected.

A series of dawn raids have also taken place with officers looking to arrest those suspected of disorder in recent days.

Statement from the Dialogue Society, which has bases in Kingston, Croydon and Sutton.

We at the Dialogue Society unequivocally condemn the violent mob attacks committed across the country by groups that appear to be associated with extremist ideologies. We would like to draw attention to the role that this may have in inciting retaliatory attacks by other groups in the name of different political ideologies. These actions threaten the peace and well-being of migrant, ethnic, and religious communities, specifically Muslims. We stand in solidarity with those affected, offering our heartfelt prayers and support.
We share the grief of the people of Southport following the tragic loss of life on last Monday and Tuesday.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the UK police for their diligent efforts in ensuring the safety of our cities as well as protecting ethnic communities and religious places, particularly mosques, during this challenging period. However, we acknowledge that more action is needed to ensure their continued safety. In the meantime, we urge everyone to allow the police to carry out their duties and to avoid any actions that may lead to further trouble.
Dialogue and violent extremism are mutually exclusive. The more we increase dialogue, the less extremism and hate we will see. Promoting dialogue is crucial in countering extremism, and it is essential that mainstream voices are both heard and amplified.
As the Dialogue Society, we are committed to intensifying our efforts in promoting dialogue, as it is the most effective way to eliminate hate. We encourage everyone to join and support dialogue initiatives, as collective action is our best opportunity to foster understanding and peace.

Thank you for taking the time to read this important statement. Your support and involvement in promoting dialogue and understanding are vital as we work together to overcome these challenges.

Best regards,
Musap Aycicek
