St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals have issued advice to staff in response to the nationwide riots.
It comes from the group’s Chief Executive, Jacqueline Totterdell, and reads;
Like me, I know you will be horrified by the abhorrent racial violence we are seeing in towns across the UK.
I wanted to write and tell you that these people do not represent GESH or our diverse community that I am proud to lead.
I am worried that many of you, seeing such racism, may feel afraid and unwelcome when the opposite is true.
At GESH we celebrate and welcome each and every one of you and are proud to work with people of all backgrounds and faiths.
Please do check in with your colleagues to ensure they feel safe and share any worries with line managers.
And let’s continue to stand united, support one another, and make sure everyone feels valued and safe.
