Spelthorne Borough Council is urging people to help protect its parks and open spaces following reports of fires, littering and damage.

Incidents at Dumsey Meadows and Sunbury Park have included unauthorised barbecues, discarded rubbish and unsafe fires near trees.

With hot, dry weather increasing the risk of fires spreading, visitors are being reminded not to light fires or barbecues in public spaces.

People are also being asked to take rubbish home and dispose of cigarettes responsibly.
