The council says the problem at the Collingwood Estate is due to an issue with the boiler house system.
A temporary boiler is in the process of being installed so contractors can work on the problem over the weekend.
Affected residents are being offered electric heaters and are being told they can use one of the council’s four leisure centres to shower.
Access to heating and hot water can be arranged as follows in the meantime:
1. If you require temporary electric heaters during this period, please contact Smith and Byford on 020 8722 3431 who will deliver one to your home.
2. Residents are able to use the showers at any of the four council leisure centres between 7am and 10pm (6:30am and 10:30pm for Westcroft). Showers at the Council’s Civic Offices in St Nicholas Way are also available from tomorrow (Thursday 25 April) between 6am-11pm. Just ask at the reception desk.
