Sir Gareth Southgate is to be honoured with the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Merit award at tonight’s gala dinner.

The former England men’s boss is being recognised for his contributions to football and his achievements with the Three Lions.

The record-breaking former Chelsea women’s boss Emma Hayes is also a recipient of the same prize.

She previously led the London club to seven Women’s Super League titles, five of them in succession.
