Sir Ed Davey will call for a pause on AI development ‘before it’s too late’ when he makes his leader’s speech at the Lib Dem conference later.

The MP for Kingston and Surbiton will liken the threat of super-intelligent AI to nuclear weapons.

He’ll also propose a global watchdog modelled on the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Sir Ed will say warnings about the technology are ‘not science fiction’.
