Richmond Council’s Lib Dem leader has questioned the Mayor of London on the capital’s ability to cope with extreme weather.

This weekend could be the hottest of the year so far if not broken by rain.

Gareth Roberts is the council’s leader but also the Lib Dem Assembly Member for South West London.

He questioned Sadiq Khan specifically on water safety.

He asked the Mayor to use his office to promote and amplify messaging around water safety.

He also wanted City Hall to fund the rollout of ‘rescues polls’ across London if trials are successful.

The Mayor has agreed to both requests.
