New trials using smart camera technology have begun tackling out-of-borough traffic cutting through Weltje Road. as well as in College Road in North London.
The neighbourhood improvement schemes are part of wider work to tackle congestion and air pollution, as well as to improve conditions for walking and cycling.
Cllr Nicole Trehy, H&F Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency and Travel, said: “These two new neighbourhood improvement trials – designed with and by residents – tackle long-standing congestion, noise, pollution and safety issues. They use the latest smart camera technology to discourage out-of-borough motorists from using residential streets as cut-throughs while allowing residents and their visitors full access.
The aim is to significantly reduce traffic and improve the quality of life for residents. Similar schemes across the borough have brought huge reductions in cut-through traffic by non-H&F drivers and I look forward to residents of Weltje Road and College Park gaining the same benefits.”
