Private landowners in Elmbridge can now apply for funding to help them get rid of Oak Processionary Moth infestations.

OPM caterpillars can damage oak trees, and their tiny hairs may cause mild irritation, including skin rashes.

Public land is regularly monitored and treated by council officers.

But the Forestry Commission has now introduced a grant to support the cost of spraying oak trees on private land in the spring.

The deadline to apply for the funding, via the council, is next Friday.
