A woman in her 80s was stopped on Elgin Crescent by two suspects, who took a suitcase from her vehicle containing £100,000 worth of jewellery.
Two male witnesses stopped the suspects as they headed towards Ladbroke Grove, which caused them to drop the suitcase and run.
The two witnesses are urged by police to come forward.
