Officers were called to Dell Lane after members of the public reported concerns about suspicious activity down an adjacent alley.
A search of the area found a brown electric Lapierre e-Explorer bike and a bag with an angle grinder, pairs of gloves and a balaclava.
Enquiries continue and officers are encouraging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact them on 101.
