They were called to Cowey Sale car park just before midnight on Tuesday to reports a man had thrown an object at an occupied car.
This resulted in its rear windscreen being smashed.
The suspect then drove off in a car along Walton Lane towards Weybridge.
Officers are asking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured this incident to contact them on 101.
