Officers were alerted to a disturbance at a residential address in Grenaby Avenue on Friday afternoon.
A 29-year-old woman was found suffering from stab injuries.
She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
A second woman, aged 23, was treated for a minor injury.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
