Plans to redevelop a car park in the centre of Claygate have been paused.

Elmbridge Borough Council had scheduled a public meeting on the Torrington Lodge site for later this month.

But the meeting has been cancelled over a lack of “clear and agreed” information in order to host a “meaningful discussion.”

Plans for a Marks & Spencer food-hall at the site were shelved in 2023 after opposition from residents.
