The next phase of Transport for London works on the A316 London Road roundabout have begun and aren’t due to finish until April the 17th.
The next phases of work will focus on the north and south islands of the roundabout.
What the TfL works mean for residents
For safety reasons, a temporary north/south directional closure of the roundabout will be required during this period. Traffic on London Road (north/south movements) will be diverted to the adjacent roundabouts on the A316, at either Whitton Road or St Margarets Road. However, east/west movements on the A316 will be retained at all times.
To streamline the works, Richmond Council will be constructing two new zebra crossings during the TfL closure on London Road.
These crossings will be at the junction of Ivybridge Close and Fulwood Gardens and will replace the existing pedestrian traffic islands.
Shift patterns have been extended until 7pm to ensure the necessary works are completed whilst London Road is closed at the roundabout.
These works will also involve localised pavement widening and carriageway resurfacing later in the summer.
