People across Surrey have voted the Holly Blue as their favourite butterfly in a Butterfly Conservation poll.

A separate survey, the Big Butterfly Count, is running from the 17th of July to the 9th of August.

People are being encouraged to spend 15 minutes outside counting butterflies.

Butterfly numbers in the UK have fallen sharply in recent years, so the survey helps experts track and protect them.

Sightings can be recorded using a free app or website.
