People across Hammersmith and Fulham will be fined £400 if they pay an unregistered waste carrier to get rid of their rubbish.

The council says residents should always ask for a transfer note or receipt when they book such a service.

This is to help ensure that any waste will not be illegally dumped by a rogue contractor.

All funds collected from the new penalty will go towards the costs for the council to remove litter and fly-tipping.
