Olympic rowing champion Tom Ford’s been barred from competing in this year’s Boat Race.

The 32-year-old, who won gold for Team GB in the men’s eight in Paris, recently started an M-B-A at Cambridge.

But he won’t be able help them retain the title against Oxford after a crackdown on elite level ringers.

New rules prevent anyone competing more than 12 years after beginning an undergraduate degree, which Ford did in 2011.

The Boat Race, which takes place annually between Putney and Mortlake, takes place on April the 13th.
