The incident happened at a house in Rythe Road some time between Wednesday the 22nd of November and Sunday the 26th of November.
The suspect entered the house by forcing the rear door open, and may have entered the property via the railway line.
A number of items were taken, including jewellery and a passport.
Anyone with any information on CCTV images in the area of that time are urged to contact police on 101.
