Nine days of strike action have begun on train lines including South Western Railway.

ASLEF, the union which represents train drivers, is taking industrial action from today until Saturday the 9th.

Most train operating companies will be affected on different days.

This differs from the action taken in the past when they were affected on the same day.

The worst affected day is due to be next Wednesday with SWR warning passengers that they should only travel if absolutely necessary.

On that day, an extremely limited service will operate on a small number of lines, between 7am and 7pm only with most of the network closed.

There will be no services outside of these times.

In this area, services will only run from Waterloo to Feltham via Twickenham and Waterloo to Guildford via Woking.
