Nine days of rail strikes by the train drivers union ASLEF begin today, with long-distance services to Scotland, the North East and the Midlands the first to be affected.

Thameslink drivers will walk out tomorrow for the day, with services on South Western Railway, Southern and the Gatwick express all affected on Wednesday.

Earlier this week RMT members voter to call off their dispute and accept a revised pay offer.
