New rules are being introduced in Croydon that will require some landlords to get a licence in order to rent out their properties.

They’ll apply to privately rented homes in 14 wards, as well as smaller shared houses known as HMOs.

The council says the changes are designed to make sure rented homes are safe and properly looked after.

Around a third of homes in Croydon are privately rented.
