More than half of adults say they would not consider owning a big dog, according to new research from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

The charity says misconceptions about size and cost are putting people off.

Almost half of those surveyed believe big dogs are misunderstood, with larger breeds waiting 16% longer in rescue to find homes.

Battersea is urging potential owners to consider each dog’s personality, age and needs rather than judging them by size.
